Is Love Just a Feeling?

Love encompasses a broad range of positive and strong emotional states, from the highest transcendent religious virtue to the easiest, most simple joy. For some people, love is a feeling of completeness, of being ” Whole,” while for others, love is the feeling that something is missing from their lives. Most people agree that love brings with it the power of flexibility, the ability to go beyond our understood understandings of what love is, how love feels, or what it means to us. The ability to “know” love also contributes to its growth and development. However, it can be difficult to tell how much love you are truly feeling or how much love your partner is receiving.

People’s responses to love vary as much as their emotions; the feelings they have for love can be very different from one person to another, or they can even be the same but not identical. Most of us have experienced love or affection at some time and place, either as a gift or as an expression of our love for a family member or friend. Most of us know what love is like, but many of us do not know how love feels or why it is so powerful. Here are the answers to these questions and more about how love includes physical and psychological benefits as well as emotional ones.

Love and affection are a natural and basic aspect of human relationships. Our bodies and hearts are both attracted to one another and want to become closer and more integrated. Love is most often an expression of our innermost feelings – whether those are happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, pride, or boredom. The physical affection we experience when loved makes us feel alive and whole; our affection for another is the very extension of our souls and the essence of our being.

Love is more than just a feeling or an emotion. While love may be the emotion that triggers the release of hormones that stimulate the sex drive in both genders, love is also an emotion that inspires cooperation among people, encourages us to take risks and to live creatively, and helps us to find fulfillment in other human relationships. While some emotions such as lust are fleeting and related to biological processes within the body, love is not limited to reproduction or puberty and can extend to relationships that involve a variety of people from various backgrounds and relationships.

Love means different things to different people, but the bottom line is that it is a deep connection that is based on a commitment to another person. It can be defined as the feelings, hopes, dreams, and desires that come with the knowledge that a person is committed to another person with open hearts and open minds. It is the realization that two people can become and remain connected through shared experiences and emotions while respecting and accepting each other the way that they are. When a couple engages in healthy relationship practices, their love grows, their trust grows, and their devotion becomes stronger.

Love is not something that occurs magically, even though research has shown that certain circumstances do trigger certain responses in our brains. Love is a feeling, a sensation that comes from being together and sharing experiences. Love does not exist in a vacuum; it is not an emotion that can be controlled or predicted. People’s behaviors are influenced by their interpretation of love and their feelings about love. In order to maintain healthy relationships, one person must accept the love of another and learn how to experience that love so that they can grow together and remain close.
