Love encompasses an array of alluring and powerful emotional and psychological states, from the strongest imaginable faith, to the purest, romantic enjoyment, the clearest interpersonal bond, to the easiest physical pleasure. All love is a form of emotional bonding, a way for two people to communicate their devotion to each other through the symbols of love they choose to represent. And while all of these various states of love are important in their own right, none of them can be considered complete without an explanation of what love is not.
Love is not the same as lust. People who claim to love are not attracted to another person based on any kind of physical trait they may possess. Instead, love is a quality of devotion that springs from a true understanding of a person’s unique qualities. A partner who loves you does so because they recognize the special qualities inherent in you, and so naturally and intuitively feel loved through your presence.
The most popular love languages are words of endearment like “I love you,” “I’ll love you,” “I hope you love me,” and “I wish you well.” While these are all words of devotion that may take on slightly different meanings under varying conditions, the essential nature of these words remains true. In each instance, the message is the same: My love is best for you, and I want to spend every possible moment with you, sharing this love and forming bonds that will strengthen the relationship for the rest of your lives. The importance of quality time together extends beyond the actual words, however.
Most humans fall into one of three love languages: physical, emotional, or spiritual. For example, if you were to ask two people whether they loved each other, you’d more than likely find that one person stated that they loved their partner with full passion while the other expressed feelings of mild affection. Physical love is often expressed in ways such as falling in love, hugging, cuddling, kissing, or even fondling. Emotional affection is expressed in ways such as giving affection to your partner, cheering them up, and encouraging them to excel. Spiritual love is usually expressed in your relationship with God or a higher power.
When two people come together in marriage, they usually fall into one of the three love languages. This is because the physical touch feel loved is what is most commonly expressed by those who fall into the physical language. However, there are also those who fall into the emotional language, which is expressed through words like “I love you” and “I am proud of you.” The quality of the words used does not matter as much as the emotional value of what is being said. This is why it is so important to make sure that your words say everything that you want them to say when you are using a love language.
Using the correct love language can make a lot of difference in how you express yourself to your partner on a regular basis. You will find that you have more insight into how you feel about your partner and you will be able to communicate without too much hesitation. It is important to make sure that your words are coming from your heart and not just from a desire to impress your partner. If you do this correctly, you will find that you will have a much better marriage and relationship than you ever thought was possible.
