The biological model of love often focuses on the biological basis of love as a mammalian drive, whereas psychology emphasizes its social and psychological origins. Though hormones, neurotrophins, pheromones, and other chemicals are involved in love, the meaning of the word largely depends on people's conceptions of love. The conventional view in biology holds that love consists of two main drives: passionate love and companionate love.
